LONG DAN XIE GAN WAN
CHINESE DIAGNOSIS: Excess fire or damp heat in the liver and gallbladder.
This formula is an old favorite as it works on both the upper and lower body.
Upper body symptoms include strong throbbing headaches, red eyes, agitation, and high blood pressure. The ears may also have some swelling or sores around the back of the ear.
Lower body symptoms of damp-heat appear as sores that weep and/or itch especially affecting the genitalia. You may notice a foul odor, cloudy urine, and yellow discharge.
INDICATIONS:
- Hypertension (esp. if your numbers are very high)
- Throbbing headache
- Herpes (all types) (best during an acute breakout only); see ‘Chai Hu Qing Gan Tang’ for long-term use and to help prevent a breakout.
- Cold Sores
- Infections involving the genitals
- Shingles
- Hives
- Styes
COMPLIMENTARY FORMULAS:
'Xiao Feng San': for Calming the Itching due to a severe outbreak of Eczema (esp.. along the liver and gallbladder channels)
'Ba Zheng San': for painful, burning, or difficult urination (ie. UTI)
'Jia Wei Xiao Yao Wan': esp. good for Calming Stress
DOSAGE: Follow the dosage on the bottle.
CAUTION: This formula is best taken for 1 -2 weeks (1-2 bottles) only as it can be hard on digestion. If you have a sensitive stomach, take it after meals and reduce the dosage if needed. Follow up with 'Chai Hu Qing Gan Wan' which can be taken long term if needed.
